| Instructors:
John Nunez (5th Dan), who is pursuing his PhD in
the University's Social Justice Education program, has served
for many years as the head of the ISKF in Belize.
We would like to thank sensei Sara Grimes for all
the years of support and instruction since the inception of the
club. She holds a 6th degree black belt from the ISKF, and
has been an Official Instructor and Examiner in the JKA since
1992. She began her karate studies in 1966 under Mr. Teruyuki
Okazaki (9th dan), chief instructor of the ISKF. In 1996, she
received the "Meritorious Service" award from the ISKF.
Sensei Grimes taught the Shotokan section of the karate physical
education class at the university from 1976 to 1997. She is a
retired professor of journalism at the University of Massachusetts.
